- نقطه ای که در آنجا حالت یک خم مسطح نسبت به یک خط ثابت از مقعر به محدب تغییر می کند نقطه ای که اگر تابع مشخص کننده خم دارای مشتق دوم باشد این مشتق در آن نقطه تغییر علامت می دهد.
